lizzie swartz in the garden

Hi, I’m Lizzie Swartz.

I’m a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, and I believe deeply in the human body’s capacity to heal. My work is rooted Chinese Medicine (both traditional and classical), and I’m passionate about helping people feel more at home in their skin—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis at 25, which led me to study acupuncture, herbal medicine, intuitive healing, and energy work. With the support of many teachers and healers, I’ve learned how to care for others using acupuncture, herbal medicine, stone medicine, energy healing, flower essences, medical astrology, intuition, and the rich wisdom of Chinese medicine.

I hold a Master’s degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I am a proud member of the International TCM Dermatology Association, and I graduated from Mazin Al-Khafaji’s TCM Dermatology Diploma program in 2019. I’ve also studied complement channel theory and the Classical Chinese Medicine teachings of Jeffrey Yuen.

I have a background in European herbal medicine, apprenticing in herbal medicine making with naturopath Tim Dymond. I love working with Western herbs and flower essences in my practice, when appropriate.

Before I became an acupuncturist, I worked in Google's privacy engineering department for several years. I also hold a BA in Italian Language and Literature from Yale University.

If you’d like to explore how acupuncture and herbal medicine can support your health, I’d be honored to work with you. You can book your first session here.

About Soraluna

Soraluna is a full-service holistic medicine clinic offering acupuncture, herbal medicine, and complementary modalities. For many, it feels like a cozy healing sanctuary in the middle of the San Francisco’s Mission District.

The clinic has two treatment rooms, a reception area, an ADA restroom, an herb room, and a garden in the back where there are numerous healing herbs growing (especially roses).

The space was designed with attention to energetic flow (feng shui), with sustainable design elements like cork floors, efficient heating, antique wood furniture, linen textiles, and of course crystals :-)

Getting Unstuck

There’s an old saying in Chinese Medicine: “Where there is free flow, there is no pain; where there is pain, there is no free flow.” Acupuncture and energy healing methods are beautiful for creating more flow in your body, mind, and spirit.

Modalities at Soraluna

I’m a bit obsessed about learning all the different ways one can use natural and holistic medicine to heal. Through my studies, these are modalities I rely upon to facilitate shifts for people in the gentlest, most effective ways.

Acupuncture Gentle, intuitive, and personalized to your body. I use fine, thin needles to shift patterns of stagnation, pain, or imbalance.

Facial Acupuncture Sessions combine constitutional acupuncture with facial points to support glowing skin, reduce tension, and support skin conditions like acne, rosacea, or melasma. Each session is fluid based on your skin’s needs, and might include gua sha, cupping, facial massage, herbal skincare, and/or energetic work—tailored just for you.

Cupping A traditional healing technique using suction cups to move stagnation, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and release muscular tension. Cups may be glided along meridians with a massage oil, or left in place over areas of stagnation.

Gua Sha Gua sha uses a smooth stone or stainless steel tool to gently scrape the skin. It increases circulation, clears stagnation, releases fascia, and reduces inflammation. While well known for facial rejuvenation, it’s also used effectively on the body for pain and tension.

Energy Work I have training in multiple energy healing modalities, including reiki. This can be included in any session by request.

Flower Essence Therapy For emotional balance and spiritual support, I offer flower essences as part of your sessions. These subtle, vibrational remedies help you shift emotional patterns, release old stories, and can support your goals for healing.

Daoist Stone Medicine In Chinese Medicine, stones were historically used before needles to move energy in the body. Today, I use stones (based on their traditional properties) topically on acupuncture points, in energetic grids, or internally as elixirs to help access and transform deep-rooted patterns. Stone medicine can be included in any session upon request.

Herbal Medicine Formulas are custom-built for you—never pre-made. I draw from both Chinese and Western herbal traditions to craft blends that address your specific symptoms and constitution. I stock over 150 individual herbs in-house and work with trusted suppliers for everything else. Whether you’re working on hormonal balance, dermatology, immune regulation, or long-standing chronic issues, herbs can offer deep, systemic support.

TCM Dermatology For chronic skin conditions like acne, eczema, perioral dermatitis, or psoriasis, I offer a holistic dermatology support rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This includes recommendations for: ustom internal herbal formulas, topical applications, dietary and lifestyle support, and optional acupuncture and facial acupuncture

Microneedling Using the Procell device—which closely mirrors the plum blossom needle technique used in East Asian Medicine—these treatments stimulate collagen, enhance skin renewal, and support long-term resilience. Microneedling requires additional supplies and screening, and is not available as part of routine acupuncture treatment.
