Hi! I’m Lizzie, and I'm a licensed herbalist and acupuncturist. I believe in the resilience of the human body, and I'm passionate about supporting your health through herbal medicine and acupuncture.

I started studying skin and autoimmune disease through my own diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis in 2013. As I learned how to heal myself, I learned the many ways you can use Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbal medicine, and acupuncture to address skin and autoimmune concerns. I love helping people live a life beyond their diagnosis, full of health and joy.

In the clinic, I see a wide variety of cases, not limited to: psoriasis, eczema, acne, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, herpes simplex, herpes zoster, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, pityriasis versicolor, fungal infections, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, warts, corns, pediatric eczema, pompholyx eczema, stasis eczema, Hashimoto’s, Irritable Bowel Disease, Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, allergic rhinitis, and more. I also love helpnig children experiencing skin issues.

I hold a master's degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and am a member of the International TCM Dermatology Association.

Before becoming an acupuncturist, I worked in Google's privacy engineering department. I also have an undergraduate degree in Italian Language and Literature from Yale University.

About Soraluna

Soraluna is an acupuncture and herbal medicine clinic in San Francisco’s Mission District. The ground floor clinic has two treatment rooms, a reception area, an ADA accessible restroom, a consultation room, and an herb room.

In Reggio-Emilia teaching philosophy, there’s the idea that the classroom environment is a “third teacher,” with the student and the educator being the other two teachers. I designed Soraluna to be a “third healer,” with you and me being the other two healers in your therapeutic process.

The clinic is designed to enhance feng shui; natural materials like cork, wood, linen, and organic cotton are used wherever possible. All of the sheets used on the treatment tables are either linen or organic flannel, providing you a cozy rest.

The ceramic pieces in the clinic (vases, pottery, mugs) are handmade by Lizzie Swartz at a nearby ceramic studio with the intention to nourish those who come through Soraluna’s doors.

Finally, the back of the clinic is home to an herbal medicine and flower garden, overrun with happy herbs grown and collected for various preparations. Some of the herbs are used in topical ointments or flower essence creation; others are used for bouquets in the treatment rooms.

It is a special place, and an honor to provide healing services at Soraluna.
